About The Knowlton’s
Zoe and Gary saw the dire need in their urban area of Tennessee for a thriving Church for the people of Clarksville. To this end, they have started phase one of church planting (i.e., evangelism) through small group gatherings that focuses on key biblical foundations for the gospel. They meet weekly in public for chronological bible lessons with the focus being evangelism, and twice a month in their home for teaching believers all the ways that God’s grace is sufficient for the pursuit of godly maturity.
They also host a podcast called “The 2427” where they share salvation and discipleship testimonies, the need for Bible literacy, and the importance of partnership with others in church planting – among other things.
Ministry Outreach
Zoe and Gary serve in Montgomery County, a non-metropolitan area of Tennessee. The heart of the county is Clarksville city with an estimated population of 180,716 people, which is the fifth largest city in Tennessee. Most residents hold military jobs, and many others are mixed between blue and white-collar workers.
While the culture is very “Post-Christian,” many still self-identify as Christians. Yet across the county, the Gospel message has been syncretized with Moralistic Therapeutic Deism, New Thought and New Age beliefs and practices. Those not ascribing to this false gospel, identify as atheists or Nordic pagans.
Zoe and Gary are currently in Phase One of church planting (Evangelism) along with discipling believers. Their evangelism outreach takes place once a week on Wednesdays at a public venue to teach the gospel. Their method is a 13 week cycle teaching through the bible that starts with creation and ends with Jesus Christ’s bodily ascension into heaven. Their discipleship outreach takes place twice a month on Sundays in their home to teach believers bible literacy, their identity in Christ, and God ‘s vocational election of them unto holiness – among other biblical doctrines.
